Anythings is now a one-time purchase

As of today, Anythings costs $19.99 once. Not per month, not per year, not per device. The weekly, monthly and annual plans are gone. Your first 50 tasks are still free with everything switched on, and if you decide it has earned a place in your day, you pay once and it is yours.

A to-do list should not be a standing commitment

I kept running into the same feeling when I looked at our own pricing page. Anythings is meant to be the simplest possible thing: you throw a mess at it, you get back a list in the right order. That is it. Asking someone to carry a recurring charge for that — one more line on the statement, renewing whether or not they opened the app that month — felt out of proportion to what we had built.

Subscriptions make sense for products you live inside. For a lot of software, that is honest. But most people do not want a relationship with their to-do app. They want it to work, stay out of the way, and not send them an email in eleven months asking whether they would like to keep paying.

The test I kept applying: would I be annoyed to find this on my own statement? For a to-do list, the answer was yes. So we stopped charging that way.

Putting our money where our mouth is

It is easy to say you dislike subscription creep while quietly running one. The only version of this that means anything is the version that costs us something — and this one does.

Recurring revenue is the thing investors ask about, the thing that compounds, the thing every piece of advice tells a small app to protect. Giving it up at this stage, with the app newly on the App Store and Google Play, is the least strategic moment to do it. That is exactly why it is worth doing now rather than later, when it would be harder to walk back and look more like a stunt.

It also changes what we have to be good at. On a subscription, we get paid whether or not this month was useful to you. On a one-time price, we only grow if people keep finding it good enough to tell someone else about. I would rather be judged on that.

What $19.99 actually gets you

  • Unlimited tasks, for good.
  • One purchase across every device you use — iPhone and the web today, Android as soon as it clears review. Not one each, and not again when Android lands.
  • No AI usage caps. Capture by voice, photo, PDF, email or a 2am brain-dump as often as you like.
  • Every feature we build next, included. No upgrade tier waiting for you later.
  • Nothing renews, nothing expires, and there is nothing to cancel.

For comparison: Todoist is $60 a year, TickTick $36 — or $7 and $4 a month if you pay that way. Every year, for as long as you keep using them. Anythings is $19.99, once, and then never again.

The honest part

Anythings runs real AI on every capture, and that costs us money each time you use it. A one-time price means someone who uses it heavily for years will, eventually, cost more than they paid. We have thought about that and decided we would rather carry it than meter your thinking. If you have to wonder whether a thought is worth spending a credit on, the product has already failed.

What that means in practice: we have to keep the free tier honest, keep the app fast and cheap to run, and grow by being worth recommending. Those are better problems than optimising a renewal funnel.

If you already subscribe

Nothing breaks. Your subscription keeps working exactly as it does today, and you can cancel whenever you like — through the App Store, Google Play, or the billing portal, depending on where you signed up. You are not being moved onto anything, and you are not losing access to anything. If you are on an older version of the app you may still see the subscription plans for a while; updating gets you the new pricing.

And if you have not tried it yet: the first 50 tasks are free, no card. Throw your actual mess at it — the half-formed voice note, the screenshot of a whiteboard, the email you keep meaning to deal with — and see whether the list that comes back is the one you would have written. Decide after that.

Throw in anything.
We’ll keep it in order — free to start, no credit card.
